“Public” doesn’t mean inferior.
Algonkian Golf Course — tucked quietly away in the Algonkian Regional Park — offers a challenging, championship golf course in a beautiful, riverside setting. The park/golf course in Sterling, Virginia are just minutes from the Beltway, convenient to Dulles, Route 66, Washington DC, and Leesburg.
The 18-hole course features 7,015 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73, with a slope rating of 126.
Variety! The front nine tree-lined fairways are long, straight and flat while the back nine features hills and several dogleg and water holes.
Along with providing exceptional golfing conditions, Algonkian offers the convenience of on-site professional catering, a modern conference center, twelve rental cottages for overnight guests, and a wide range of other amenities. What’s more, we do it all at very affordable rates.
Designed by Edmund B. Ault, ASGCA, the Algonkian Golf Course opened in 1962. Mr. Ault took the space, a relatively small tract, and shaped a course with parallel fairways. And while this utilizes the available land, plenty of trees keep errant shots off stray fairways.
Lessons are taught under the experienced eye of head professional Ted Simpson and his staff, who work one-on-one with you to assess and improve all aspects of your game.
We’re friendly enough to give you that “club” feel, yet casual enough to allow golfers of all skill levels to feel right at home.
The “hole-y” trinity of golf for Northern Virginia!
The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority (NCRPA) offers you three golf courses for your pleasure. Along with Algonkian, we offer you Pohick Bay Golf Course and Brambleton Golf Course. So even if your foursome is spread across the northern Virginia area, we can accommodate you at one of our three magnificent courses.
